Let's start by explaining what a flow builder is, before we get into how to migrate workflows to it. A flow is a tool that lets you build sophisticated logic and interfaces for your business workflows. Flows have more capabilities and options than workflows. You may already know that Salesforce stopped supporting workflows in 2022. But don't worry, you can use the Migrate to flow ( Beta) feature to switch your Workflow Rules to Flows on the Salesforce platform easily.

Salesforce Migrate to Flow Tool

The official comment on Workflow is clear: Flow Builder is the way to go! Flow Builder is the next-generation tool for low-code automation, where you can create and manage all kinds of workflows — and beyond! Workflow rules are outdated and have been phased out by Salesforce, so it's time to switch to Flow Builder for your automation needs. You can use this link to access the Migrate your Workflow Rules to Flows tool and get started.

Migrate to Flows Salesforce Step 1

I wanted to try out the Migrate your Workflow Rules to Flows feature, so I created a sample workflow. I saw that Salesforce had also included a “Create in Flow Builder” button next to the New Rule button in the workflow page.

Migrate to Flows Salesforce Step 2

After you select the Migrate your Workflow Rules to Flows option from the workflow page, you will see the following screen. You can also access this screen from Setup > Migrate To Flow.

Migrate to Flows Salesforce Step 3

Migrate To Flow tool will show you all the workflows available in your org. Then Select one workflow and click on migrate to flow button. It just one click and your workflow will get converted into a new flow.

Migrate to Flows Salesforce Step 4

When you select the migration to flow button, you will see the migration details, such as “We changed this workflow rule to a before-save flow for better performance, because it only updates fields. A before-save flow updates fields faster on the record that starts the flow”.

Step 2) Next, click on the Switch Activation button. This will turn off your workflow rule and turn on your flow. You are all set to Migrate your Workflows to a Flow Builder!
